Welcome to Poppy’s wonderful
world
MAY we introduce you to a little girl called Poppy?
Some of her clothes were created by her friend Bryony,
who has designed fabrics depicting the exciting adventures
of Poppy, and her dog Fred.
Our spring / summer range of clothing includes cotton
dresses complemented by cardigans, and little jackets
all aimed
from birth to six.
All items have in common the pretty designs featuring
Poppy and her friends.
The 100pc cotton fabrics evoke home-made wholesomeness
and fun, a
1950s-inspired innocent time of imaginative play.
The clothing is complemented by a novel series of co-ordinating
toys, gift sets
and make-with-mum kits – greetings cards, peg dolls,
rag dolls, baking and
picnic sets and Punch & Judy.
The giftsets are designed to accompany the childrenswear,
with fabrics mixing with other sustainable materials such
as bamboo and wood to create items that are built to last … and
be passed on.
Poppy and Fred’s picnics, traditional games and
outdoor antics amongst also feature in a paper back hand-made
storybook,
and can also be followed online on our very own blog -
the
adventures of Poppy and Fred.
In a world where children grow up too fast, we have tried
to produce a range of products which allow children to
be children, and not little adults. I have drawn my inspiration
from my own care-free happy childhood in North Yorkshire.
“
We make a big effort to test our charming items on lots
of children – not just little Poppy – so we
know they are going to go down a treat. Our fabric is designed
and printed here in the UK. We then manufacture nearly
all our clothing and kits here in North Yorkshire and try
to bring you well produced quality items as well as fairly
traded.

A little Poppy History
Poppy Ltd was established
by Michael and Stephanie Richardson from their shop in
Yarm-on-Tees in 1980 to create bright,
bold prints for nursery décor. Poppy’s signature
border prints proved extremely popular and Poppy clothing
emerged in 1995. Their daughter Bryony, 28, took over the
reins last year and is striving to continue the firm’s
tradition of sourcing as locally as possible.
